I have several moments that will stick in my mind, all of which speak to the remarkable sense of community that was steadily built by goodwill and hope throughout the weekend.
1) the late night performances that went on for hours and raised so much money;
2) the newbies who came to SL and signed up to be greeters within hours after coming to the fest;
3) the Wall
4) the auctioning of the PeaceQuilt – really, someone must tell that story;
5) the bidding war for the Peace Tako
6) the amazing panel as peace workers from Ghana, South Africa and Croatia spoke together about the nature of conflict and the will to embrace.
The story of the auctioning of the PeaceQuilt is burned in my memory, because Cotton and Louis, the top bidders for the quilt, chose cooperation instead of competition, and raised even more money for our peace workers. Wow.
